President Buhari To Visit China On Friday File Photo: President Muhammadu Buhari President Muhammadu Buhari will be visiting China on Friday to participate in the 7th Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) scheduled to hold September 3 – 4, 2018 in Beijing. The President’s first engagement in the country will be an interactive session with the Nigerian Community in China at the Nigerian Embassy. In a statement by the President’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, the President will deliver his remarks as the current chair of ECOWAS at the “High-level Dialogue between Chinese and African leaders, business representatives and African entrepreneurs”. Eight Killed, 95 Houses Razed In Fresh Plateau Attack No fewer than eight persons were killed and scores of houses were burnt by yet to be identified persons in Plateau State, the police said on Wednesday. A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Plateau Police Command, Mr Tyopev Mathias, revealed that the attack also left three others injured. The incident occurred when the attackers stormed Abonong and Zayit villages of Foron District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state. “The communities were attacked by unknown gunmen on Tuesday which resulted in the death of the eight persons with 95 houses burnt and 310 cattle rustled by the assailants,” the statement read. The attackers were said to have vandalised houses in the communities, looted foodstuff and, thereafter, set the houses on fire. The Command said the gunmen took to their heels on sighting a team of police officers who arrived in the communities after a distress call. ...

Police Rescue Abducted Doctor In Abia File Photo An oral and maxillofacial surgeon with the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Umuahia, Abia State, Dr. Innocent Iwegbu, who was abducted, has regained his freedom. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Anthony Ogbizi, told reporters that the victim who was kidnapped at the entrance of the hospital on Monday was rescued by the police on Thursday from his captors. Ogbizi also paraded a suspect who was arrested in connection with the abduction. He called on Nigerians, especially the residents of Abia to be more security conscious and report any suspicious movement around their vicinity to the security agencies. “I want to say that all and sundry must make security a personal business and a priority, which means that we all have to be security conscious,” he said.
